Post to the Ghost

I'm delighted to announce that, at long last, I've finally managed to move CAMPAIGN TRAILS away from Substack over to its new home at Ghost.

This move has been a long time coming. More than a year ago, I signed on to this letter expressing the concerns a lot of us Substack users had about the presence of literal Neo-Nazis on Substack as well as the site's willingness to provide a platform for far right voices who were only slightly less objectionable than that too.

The people who run Substack listened to our concerns and basically brushed them off. That's their right, but the decision led many of us to start looking for the exits.

However, as someone whose technical expertise peaked with the now obsolete iPod, I needed a lot of help first deciding where to go and then figuring out how to transfer all my posts and all the subscriber information and everything else over to a new site. That took some time, but thanks to the good people at Ghost who made the migration idiot-proof, now it's all done.

So ... what does this mean for you?

Nothing, really.

All the paid subscriptions have been transferred over and will continue as before – and thanks again for your continued support! – and all the free ones will continue uninterrupted as well. No matter how you subscribe, nothing should change at your end at all.

This is really more about what I'm comfortable with at my end. While there's nothing pure in this world, I do try to observe the "Nazi bar" rule of thumb and steer clear of any place that provides a welcome to open white supremacists and fascists. For me, that meant getting off Twitter and now that means getting off Substack too.

My apologies for a lack of posting as I made this migration, but now that it's done I hope to get back to our regularly scheduled chaos.
